Structured Wiring System
 |
Components of a Residential
/ SOHO Structured Wiring System
- The communications center (the main
component)
- The communications center is the enclosure where
all of your outside services (such as cable television, DSS,
telephone, DSL, Internet, etc.) come into the house. From the
communications center, bundles of wires are run through the
walls to different rooms. This is called structured wiring. The
equipment inside the communications center allows the homeowner
to distribute all the incoming signals to any location within
the home. Additionally, the homeowner can use the same
structured wiring to setup a LAN or Internet connection sharing
for a home office, or just share the connection with the kids!
- Lightning and surge protection
- Pathways (pipes and ducts to run the cabling in)
- Multimedia cabling
- Faceplates
